We loved Angel Fire, such a beautiful town with a great ski slope. The property was very clean, the hot tub was ready to go, and everything felt well taken care of. Only small note is having to take trash to the dumpster, which is probably just how things work in the area.

From our guidebook
What we'd tell a first-timer
We know this valley. Here's the short version.
Summer
Hike the Oeste Vista Trail along the creek. Ride the chairlift up for the views and watch the bikers come down. Paddle boards and canoes at Monte Verde Lake. Golf, disc golf, fishing, horseback riding, zip lining, and the Sunday Farmer's Market.
Winter
Skiing and tubing are a must — Angel Fire Resort was voted Most Family-Friendly Ski Resort in North America in 2025. We started our own kids in ski school at four. There's night skiing and terrain parks when you want more of a thrill.
Worth the drive
Spend a half-day in Red River. The newly renovated park, a walk along the river, trails across the bridge, then the Red River Brewery for a burger and their in-house root beer. Coffee and the shops on Main Street on the way back.
Plan around
Balloons over Angel Fire in June fills the sky against the mountains. Fourth of July fireworks and the drone show at Eagle Nest Lake. Lifts usually open mid-December and the bike park and golf course close late October.
